Artist Statement

This work renders the prominence of Lidar technology to define a new era in the arts, design, photography, and sculpture of the 21st century and beyond. The highlighting of the aesthetics of lidar photography and geospatial analytics in this work showcases the powerful influence of this media to inform our culture. The curated color fields of light in this endeavor are saturated with an artistic interpretation of the water movements of the river, lagoon, and local waterways.

The work visually articulates the importance of the information through expansive visual narratives in the form of moving color fields. The intention is that the opus will lead to a better understanding of the possibilities for futuristic landscapes, and the significance of climate change action initiatives and will allow for the archiving of global and regional waterway data which is critical for conservation and climate change protection efforts.

Water is the most precious resource for humanity. According to the United Nations by 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in water-stressed regions.

This dynamic lidar-enhanced sculptural light work entitled ‘FLOW’ brings to the fore, water as a priceless resource and inspires the protection of water sources globally.
