Transforming through the Arts: Compassion + Confidence + Creativity

Colleen sees learning and discovery as running the course of our entire life story, not just K-12. Much of her own story has involved using the performing arts to help people creatively explore, reflect, and find their voice in the world. With a Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies from the University of Victoria, an MA in Drama & Theater for the Young from Eastern Michigan University, and a BA in Business Administration, her eclectic background in both profit and nonprofit arenas serves her well, especially with relating to a variety of audiences and creative problem-solving. For example, after years of working with teens, she wrote, sang, and produced Dream Songs, a GRAMMY-nominated album of original lullabies about the beauty, strength, and love in each of us. Her doctoral research explores how the theatre arts help students practice navigating vulnerability, inviting people to reconsider the purpose of education and the transformative power of the arts.

About Me

Originally from Michigan, she’s had the opportunity to work and study in a number of places throughout North America, from small towns to big cities, from Mexico to Canada. Colleen recently moved to Nashville, TN, excited by its reputation as one of the leading creative arts regions in the country.
